The Municipal Museum Schiedam is more than just a museum. It is a place in the city where people meet, view art, follow lectures, or visit Sinterklaas in the last months of the year. The Municipal Museum wants it to be of significance to as many people of Schiedam as possible and to contribute to a strong city. It strips culture of an elite image and at the same time remains of a high cultural level. A museum for everyone.

The existing national monument in which the museum is housed was never built as a museum. This means that the building has various defects to exhibit art in a high-quality way. Commissioned by the owner, the Municipality of Schiedam, we are leading the renovation with the aim of creating an accessible building for the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam that meets the museum’s requirements of today and that helps it to fulfill its important connecting role in the city.
